The Annual 5k Run, Walk-n-roll & Family fun Day
This is a wonderful family event in a great setting. We have a completely paved course that allows people in wheelchairs, and those with strollers to come and enjoy the excitement of our run/walk to find a cure for Spinal Muscular Atrophy, the leading genetic killer of children under two. We also have a fun run and clowns for the kids, entertainment, and an awards ceremony immediately following the race. Many families make a day of it and enjoy the beautiful surroundings and great playground at Hawk Island Park. Please join us in the fight to find a cure! Contact Holly Schafer with any questions or for more information.

What is Spinal Muscular Atrophy?

SMA is the leading genetic killer of children under two.

SMA is a group of inherited and often fatal diseases that destroy the nerves that command voluntary muscle movement, such as crawling, walking, head and neck control, and even swallowing and breathing.

One in 40 people is a carrier and one in 6,000 babies are born afflicted with SMA.

Currently, there is no cure for Spinal Muscular Atrophy.
